The RHS London Orchid & Botanical Art Show, 12–13 April 2013

Outstanding Orchids from Around the World!

Discover some of the rarest and most exotic orchids from across the globe at the RHS London Orchid & Botanical Art Show, 12–13 April 2013. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the UK’s leading gardening charity, will host highly collectible orchids alongside international works of botanical art.

From amateurs to specialist growers, the best orchid exhibitors from around the world will be selling a wide range of species and hybrids. Akerne Orchids of Belgium, Ecuagenera of Ecuador and Orchis Floriculturing of Taiwan are just a few of the international orchid growers taking part.

David McLaughlin, RHS Horticulturist and orchid specialist, says: “The RHS London Orchid & Botanical Art Show is unique in that it is the first international orchid show of the year in the UK and provides access to a wide range of high-quality orchids that aren’t commonly available, yet are attractive and easy to grow. Naturally, there will also be more challenging plants for sale so there’s something for everyone.

“For visitors who want to learn more, there are informative Culture Talks* on both days. In addition, the exhibitors are experienced growers and happy to share their knowledge.”

Laurence Hobbs will be displaying exotic species, while new discoveries will be on show from Equatorial Plants. Hardy orchids, suitable for a range of growing conditions will be available at Heritage and McBean’s Orchids, and even miniature species will be available to buy from the Columbian Orquideas del Valle.

Hear stories of adventure from students in the Writhlington School Orchid Project, who travelled to Rwanda in February to help schools learn about horticulture, from laboratory production of orchids from seed through to exploring the Nyungwe mountain reserve. Their exhibit will feature some of the key orchids of the Sikkim Himalaya.
